Not only is the subject taken up from an anatomical and surgical point of view, but our obligations to our predecessors are not ignored. The voluminous history of this important subject is very ingeniously brought together, and so well told that we trace its progress step by step, to the perfect methods of to-day. The views and modes of operating among the most eminent of modern surgeons both here and abroad are fully given.
