The subject she had chosen was " Hemiplegia in Diseases of the Nervous System." As the degree has not been frequently conferred on women by the Paris faculty, a large number of spectators filled the hall. Miss Edwards was congratulated by Professor Charcot, who admitted that she had passed her examinations in a specially brilliant manner, but did not clearly see what return she could expect for her conscientious labors.
