AB This is the third edition of this quasitextbook of which the first edition appeared in 1972. The present edition was necessitated, not so much because of the market demand, but probably because since the first edition the perspective of hematology has changed completely, in its science as well as practice. This change has come about as a result of applications of molecular biologic and immunologic techniques. The landscape would no longer be recognizable to those of us who were trained before this era, were we not ourselves in the midst of the changing pattern or were it not because of a book like this.The book has indeed incorporated much of the recent developments and, to the delight of its readers, a large portion is in the form of encapsulated, easily digestible tabulation and diagrams.The sections on lymphoproliferative and myeloproliferative disorders, the areas that are most responsible for the
