AB Any time I receive a new anatomy book, I act like a high school boy on his first date—a high school boy of my generation. I enjoy seeing, touching, and reading some of the chapters of the book, which I treat with tender loving care. To me, both the author and publisher of an anatomy book today are heroes, and I love heroes. Anatomy, gross human, is not dead. Anatomy is alive and well. Has the pendulum swung again, or have the cell biologists permitted "anatomy" to survive? Perhaps a peaceful coexistence is springing from the dry well of nonecumenical spirit.Human Structure was first published by WB Saunders in 1972. In this new edition, the authors emphasize in the preface that the textbook is brief, and the 57 chapters are short (635 pages). We agree, but we wonder if the shortening of the book is wise.I enjoyed reading
