With either approach, the book is useful. In essentially every chapter, there is a practicality complemented by a conscious effort not to oversimplify that clearly deserves praise. This is particularly well illustrated by chapter 5 on cerebral vascular disease, in which 15 pages accurately summarize the state of the art of this contentious topic, and in which the figures and tables complement rather than usurp the text.
