AB During an attempted thoracocentesis in a patient with empyema, air was inadventently introduced beneath the diaphragm apparently penetrating the liver capsule. Air filled the biliary tree and 24 hours later, an "air cholangiogram" was seen roentgenographically. Transient liver function abnormalities followed the incident.
