I do not think that this particular case proves this point. At autopsy, there was listed moderate stenosis of the right renal vein at the site of the anastomosis. I do not believe that we can conclude that the loss of the kidney was solely due to the deposit of oxalate crystals within the substance of the kidney alone. It is certainly possible that Dr. Solomons' work on calcium carbimide might save transplants in this condition.
