    The synopsis-abstract of the article, "Hemothorax as a Complication of Anticoagulant Therapy in the Presence of Pulmonary Infarction" (208:1830, 1969), by Simon et al includes the statement, "To our knowledge, this complication has not been previously reported." More than a quarter of a century ago, J. W. Keyes and I, then at Henry Ford Hospital, reported a case of "Hemothorax Complicating Heparin Therapy" (JAMA 119:882, 1942). We wonder how many similar or identical cases of pulmonary infarctions in which heparin sodium therapy led to complications have occurred since our report.
