AB The first edition of Diseases of Medical Progress, published almost a decade ago, was a small monograph. The second edition, published five years later, was considerably enlarged, and now this new edition is a massive volume of 925 pages. If these three editions were placed side by side on every practicing physician's desk, they would be an impressive and constant reminder of the ever-increasing and permanent place that iatrogenic diseases occupy in modern medical practice. This last edition is an encyclopedic compilation of almost everything that has appeared in the literature pertaining to iatrogenic diseases. This fact alone makes the volume a most important reference source for the harried physician.As a multiauthored book, the volume is somewhat uneven in its content, and contains some unavoidable repetition. In contrast to the first edition, this present one has enhanced value because it discusses the mechanisms of action rather than simply listing
