AB Emergency parathyroidectomy effected a successful cure of a patient with severe hypercalcemia due to acute hyperparathyroidism. This patient experienced a spontaneous remission of probable acute hyperparathyroidism nine months prior to surgery. It is noted that painful hemorrhage into a parathyroid adenoma coincident with the clinical symptoms of acute hypercalcemia is exceedingly rare.
