RT Journal A1 Heyn RM, Ertel IJ, Tubergen DG T1 COurse of acquired aplastic anemia in children treated with supportive care JF JAMA JO JAMA YR 1969 FD May 26 VO 208 IS 8 SP 1372 OP 1378 DO 10.1001/jama.1969.03160080036008 UL http://dx.doi.org/10.1001/jama.1969.03160080036008 AB Of 33 children with acquired aplastic anemia, 15 have recovered and two still require transfusions. Sixteen (48.4%) have died. All of these children received supportive care but no androgenic treatment. Although the initial picture in the bone marrow can be correlated with death or survival, no present parameters of measurement indicate how long recovery will take. The course of the disease to recovery is a widely variable one but is similar to that reported by others in patients who receive androgenic therapy. Further experience with the natural course of the disease seems warranted.
