Ten patients complained of severe low back pain upon cessation of lymphatic drainage. In three of these, the pain was promptly relieved by reinstitution of drainage and could be reproduced at will by reclamping the thoracic duct catheter. This observation is related to the anatomy, innervation, and physiology of the thoracic duct.
