The intention was to complement textbooks on surgical anatomy and surgical pathology by providing the surgeon with important, needed information in the field of physiology. This purpose has been accomplished. The text is interesting and well written. It is easy to read and understand. Essential information is generally included, and it is not necessary to search through voluminous detail to get to the point of the subject. If the reader desires background and research information, he may consult the adequate and reasonably up-to-date bibliography.The material is organized according to anatomic structures or systems. Cross references and a good index make subject matter easily found. As the volume is intended primarily for the general surgeon, discussion of the central nervous system and pituitary
