    Rise in Radioactivity.— 
    During the first six weeks of 1959 air sampling stations at Juneau, Anchorage, and Fairbanks all measured radioactivity, which rose to about 10 micromicrocuries per cubic meter of air according to reports received by March 1 at the Alaska Department of Health radiological office in Juneau. When the first monitoring station of Alaska's radiation surveillance network went into operation at Juneau in May, 1956, the background radioactivity was measured at 0.15 to 0.25 micromicrocurie per cubic meter of air. The highs recorded in Juneau between Jan. 1 and Feb. 17, were 11.4 on Jan. 5, 5.9 on Jan. 26, and 9.3 on Feb. 9. In Anchorage the reading on Jan. 16 was 7.6, after which it went up to 8.7 on Jan. 23 and 9.2 on Jan. 26. In Fairbanks the highest reading for the period was 10.5 on Jan. 26. The readings are the USPHS
