    William S. McCann states in his letter to the editor in The Journal (169:410 [Jan. 24] 1959) that the changes in the treatment of physicians in the German democratic republic are due to "the strength of a strong professional organization." The fact is that no professional organization of any kind exists here and the changes mentioned in the letter were effected after a study by the central committee of the United Socialistic Party ( S. E. D.).
