M. A. OBJECTIVES AND BASIC PROGRAMS  TO THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES AT THE CLINICAL SESSION, DEC. 2-5, 1958, MINNEAPOLISIn our progress report to the House last June in San Francisco, we stated that our Committee was appointed by the Speaker pursuant to an action of the House in Philadelphia (December, 1957) modifying the recommendations of the Hyland Committee which earlier had been assigned the task of analyzing the report of the management consulting firm, Heller and Associates. Members of the House will recall that our Committee was requested to study four subjects: (a) redefinition of the central concept of A. M. A. objectives and basic programs; (b) placing more emphasis on scientific activities; (c) taking the lead in creating more cohesion among national medical societies; and (d) studying socioeconomic problems. This report sets forth our Committee's recommendations on these four topics.At
