Each tumor type is discussed, and features that differentiate benign from cancerous growths are presented. The monograph reflects the results of treatment in a group practice during 25 years. It contains six sections: (1) history, classification, incidence, hereditary and congenital occurrence, role of trauma and other etiologic factors, and cancerous evolution of a benign growth; ( 2 ) techniques of wide local excision and other details of amputation; (3) treatment of specific tumors and tumor-like or preneoplastic proliferations; (4) sarcomas of infants and children, their treatment and results; (5) the principles of therapy of these tumors in such locations as the neck, abdominal wall, buttocks, and retroperitoneum; and ( 6 ) therapeutic results and an analysis of the factors that influence prognosis. The chapters
