Dr. Anson Jones was the last president of Texas before it joined the United States. He was an amazing, dramatic and romantic figure, a leader with all of the attributes that leaders require. He could talk, he could write and he had courage. Occasionally he may have been misguided, but his motivations were sincere. Professor Gambrell has humor, and his portrayal of Anson Jones is highlighted by the warmth of his interest in his hero.
