The book reveals what a welter of mixtures Europe actually represents. Especially interesting is the chapter which indicates that, even though the Jews themselves in Europe constitute a mixture of a variety of types and stocks, they are relatively more pure than any other stock in Europe. For instance, "The racial character of the Spanish, the Germans, of the Poles and of the Russians has changed much more during the last millennium than has that of the Jews."
