The pages are large (8 1/2 by 11 inches); the typography is good, and the illustrations are interesting. There are five plates, two in black and white, and three in color. The color work is poor by our present day standards, but the plates amply illustrate the points of the text, and have probably been printed much more reasonably than would have been possible in this country. The text, evidently prepared for students and general practitioners, is elementary. This first number deals merely with descriptive cytology and technics.
