AB In this investigation, attention has been devoted principally to the effects of potassium nitrate on the functions of the stomach by examination of the gastric juice and the rate of motility and absorption; the qualitative examination of the feces and urine; the bacterial examination of the feces, and studies of the blood and blood pressure and the action of potassium nitrate on bacteria and enzymes. The authors are exceedingly cautious in drawing conclusions in this controversial field and are plainly aware that their position is open to attack and refutation. Nevertheless definite effects of potassium nitrate on certain functions are indicated.
