Its broad scope precluded the possibility of more than brief reference to many conditions that might otherwise have been discussed more at length. In view of the fact that Dr. Mead is a teacher of both medical and dental students, it appears to be a book intended to give the physician a knowledge of conditions familiar to the dentist, and the dentist a similar knowledge of those mouth conditions which are usually considered to be within the field of the physician or surgeon. There are extensive bibliographic references for each chapter. The first five chapters are devoted to mouth examinations, which include general directions for a complete physical examination.
