There are special sections devoted to the infectious diseases, the diseases of infants and the common diseases of the skin. There is a short special section appended on examination for life assurance. The book is akin to the compend yet is comprehensive. Illustrations and plates are used sparingly and only for some special purpose. Little attempt has been made to describe the technic of laboratory tests, and detailed accounts of physical signs have been omitted because the editor feels that the student can best learn these signs by direct observation of patients with disease. Besides the editor, the contributors include nine other well known English physicians, one a Canadian.
