The articles are related in different ways to the analysis of dyes. Two of these articles with their accompaying tables occupy most of the volume. One is concerned with the identification of dyes by their chemical and physical properties; the other, by identifying the groups from which the dyes are made. One of the shorter chapters considers the various phases of colorimetry and the other treats briefly of the methods used in identifying the dyes in dyed products and the quantitative analysis of dyestuffs. In the chapters in which there are tables, the authors refer to Schultz's "Farbstofftabellen" and to the "Colour Index." One cannot say that any single volume covers the dye field; as far as this particular volume is concerned, it is a valuable addition to the literature now available and should be of service to manufacturers of dyes
