AB In this book, twenty-eight contributors summarize the present knowledge of the natural or spontaneous diseases of the rabbit, guinea-pig, mouse and rat. These are the small animals that are used constantly in experimental and other work in the laboratory. Frequently the question arises whether certain conditions found in these animals are the result of spontaneous disease or are caused by the procedures to which the animals were subjected in the laboratory. This book will be of great help in determining this question and it will promote general interest in the diseases and abnormal conditions of these animals. The book has two parts, general and special. The general part covers the infectious and parasitic diseases, tumors, and carbohydrate metabolism. The bacterial and parasitic diseases and the spontaneous tumors receive thorough consideration.
