It is brief but accurate and, certainly from the point of view of literary performance, most competent. One notes an error in the quotation which follows the introductory page; namely, James Henry Robinson instead of James Harvey Robinson.In the introduction, Dr. Pusey considers first early references to dermatology in the writings of the Edwin Smith papyrus and the Ebers papyrus, turning then to the development of Greek and Roman medicine. There is a list of the diseases of the skin referred to by these important writers. Then comes the first chapter, dealing with the early account of dermatology from Egypt to Greece. Here the points raised in the introductory chapter are expanded with actual references to the writings of the ancients and with some reference to the difficulty of interpreting the writings of the past by the knowledge
