One of the responsibilities placed on the director of registration and education in Illinois is the enforcement of the medical practice act. This act represents the cumulative effort of years of work by members of the medical profession. It is an excellent law and is much in advance of any previous similar statute of Illinois. The civil administrative code, which established the department of registration and education, provides that in all professional matters relating to medicine the officers of the department shall be advised by a committee of five physicians, men who are licensed to practice medicine and surgery in all their branches.
