RT Journal A1 Moore M, Gibbs P T1 ADjuvant chemotherapy use among older patients with stage iii colon cancer JF JAMA JO JAMA YR 2010 FD June 16 VO 303 IS 23 SP 2353 OP 2354 DO 10.1001/jama.2010.775 UL http://dx.doi.org/10.1001/jama.2010.775 AB The authors suggested that the limited use of oxaliplatin, especially for older patients, differs substantially from guidelines. However, current guidelines advise that capecitabine or fluorouracil alone are acceptable treatment options for stage III colon cancer. Furthermore, recent adjuvant studies have failed to demonstrate that adding oxaliplatin is of benefit for older patients,2 and use of this agent in this group remains controversial.
