The revered originator of the book and consultant editor of this edition, James F. Glenn, died shortly before its publication. His manifold contributions to the field and the significant influence he had on his students and peers are remembered by his colleagues in a heartfelt introduction. Originally published in 1969 and widely known for its detailed illustrations and descriptions of urologic surgical techniques, the seventh edition continues the tradition of this book as a valuable reference for the practicing urologist. At 959 pages comprising 139 chapters, it is slightly more compact than the previous edition, owing to some integration of redundant chapters. The chapters are grouped into 10 sections, 6 of which are devoted to specific regions of the genitourinary system. The other 4 sections are “Urinary Diversion,” “Pediatric,” “Laparoscopic,” and a concluding section, “New Frontiers.”
