The $500 000 prize will be awarded on April 23 to David Botstein, PhD, director of the Lewis-Sigler Institute for Integrative Genomics at Princeton University in NJ; Eric Lander, PhD, president and director of the Broad Institute in Cambridge, Mass; and Francis Collins, MD, PhD, director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Md. Their work is being used to improve scientists' understanding of human genetics and genomics in health and disease, paving the way for the development of new diagnostics and individualized treatments.
