With this fourth edition, the authors have attempted to maintain pace with new technologies and a number of important updates in cardiac surgery. Notably, topics such as cardiac transplantation and endovascular repair of thoracic aortic pathology have been added. The 32-chapter text is now more comprehensive and has useful tips for avoiding danger during nearly all cardiac surgical procedures. The hallmark of the book is the collection of more than 500 masterful illustrations by Tim Hengst, which describe correct and incorrect techniques in a comprehensive manner. Although initially designed to be a quick, useful guide for surgeons-in-training, the book has become an excellent resource for established surgeons.
