To the Editor: In their Editorial, Drs Shaneyfelt and Centor1 stated that guideline development should “be centralized, for example under the guidance of . . . a group similar to the US Preventive Services Task Force [USPSTF].” Why search for what already exists? The USPSTF guidelines are comprehensive, neutral, evidence-based, and referenced. They are updated as frequently as necessary. Their only shortcoming is that they seem to receive insufficient attention.
