This call has been embraced across the country and even across party lines. Both the US House of Representatives and the US Senate have responded with bipartisan legislation designed to encourage such service.1 This broad initiative presents the health professions with an extraordinary opportunity to renew health professions' basis in charity while modeling service, wellness, and chronic care programs essential to health care reform. The National Health Service Corps (NHSC) could be the best place to start.2
