Richardson is best known for her work on the 1832 Anatomy Act in Britain, and she also wrote the Historical Introduction to the 40th edition (2008) of Gray's Anatomy: The Anatomical Basis of Clinical Practice, and so is well placed to write this history. Gray's Anatomy is a book with which many generations of medical students are familiar. So how did this deceptively familiar volume come into being?
