RT Journal A1 Ross IB T1 FUnctional neurosurgery (neurosurgical operative atlas) JF JAMA JO JAMA YR 2009 FD April 8 VO 301 IS 14 SP 1488 OP 1489 DO 10.1001/jama.2009.418 UL http://dx.doi.org/10.1001/jama.2009.418 AB I cannot speak for the trend in other specialties, but organized neurosurgery is making it easier for practicing surgeons to obtain CME credits without going to meetings. A number of Web-based seminars are currently available. And some publications sponsored by the American Association of Neurological Surgeons have online examinations associated with them. If one reads the book, passes the test, and pays a nominal fee (eg, $30), credits are awarded. Functional Neurosurgery, edited by 3 neurosurgeons affiliated with the University of California, San Francisco, is one of these books. I read the whole book, took and passed the 15-question test, and am now 15 CME credits richer.
