Martinez is a co-leader of the 3-year-old ELLA Binational Breast Cancer Study, a collaboration among investigators in the United States and Mexico. Funded by the National Cancer Institute and the Avon Foundation, the initiative aims to determine common types of cancer and specific cancer risk factors in women of Mexican descent.
