Nowadays, readers expect textbooks or other books that cover a wide range of topics to have an editor and many collaborators, each of whom writes about his or her area of expertise. This is especially true for medical books, which not only cover a lot of ground but also must be updated frequently to avoid providing out-of-date or (worse) potentially harmful advice, based on newer medical discoveries. The third edition of Ethical Issues in Neurology, written by a single author, is a tour de force. In its 500 pages, readers will not only learn about ethics in neurology but also about ethics in general. As such, it is a wonderful contribution to the literature of both medical ethics and neurology.
