Once again, these point to the dearth of humanities requirements for medical training and highlight the poverty of ethical considerations in medical decision-making. Pellegrino presents a Catholic viewpoint, which he has always emphasized in his teaching at Georgetown. The 17 chapters constitute a synthesis of his thoughts and philosophy, which reflect Catholic doctrine. He insists that ethical considerations should be a part of all medical decision-making.
