Led by investigators at the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta and the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation in Oklahoma City, researchers isolated antibody-secreting plasma cells from volunteers' blood after seasonal influenza vaccination and cloned the antibody genes from these cells. Within 7 days of vaccination, as much as 80% of the individuals' antibody-secreting plasma cells recognized the strain of virus used in the vaccine.
