Ischemic heart disease remains the leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States. It is estimated that 1 in 3 US adults has some form of cardiovascular disease, including more than 17 million with coronary heart disease and almost 10 million with angina pectoris or chest pain, the most common symptom of ischemic heart disease.
