Kathleen M. King, the GAO's director of health care, testifying before members of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce's Subcommittee on Health, said that in 2010, of the 7848 individuals and entities investigated in criminal health care fraud cases, about one-quarter were medical facilities or were affiliated with such facilities; 16% were durable medical equipment suppliers.
