In Reply: Dr Prasad contends that a wait list may be a particularly poor control in PTSD studies and expresses concern that waiting for cognitive-behavioral conjoint therapy may have caused a worsening in symptoms, thereby making the intervention appear falsely beneficial relative to the wait-list condition. In a randomized design, a wait list controls for common threats to internal validity such as selection, maturation, history, testing, and regression to the mean.1- 2
