In an October 18 letter to Leon Panetta, secretary of defense, Sen Patty Murray (D, Wash) asked about the department's next steps and timeline for conducting a military-wide review of posttraumatic stress disorder and behavioral health diagnoses made since the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan began. Murray noted that Panetta announced this comprehensive review in June, but since then the initiative has stalled.
