This tenth edition stays true to the text's classic short-chapter format, with each chapter generally consisting of 5 pages or less. Collectively, these chapters cover the breadth of general surgery, with a focus on treatment. Like the ninth edition, the new text contains 270 chapters; however, nearly every chapter boasts new authorship. Of the 14 new chapters, 3 are in the “Minimally Invasive Surgery” section. Additionally, the text contains a new 3-chapter section on the evolving experience with natural-orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery.
