Dietz and Scanlon1 made the point that although average TFA intake in the US population is relatively low, further reductions of industrially produced TFA intake are still likely to prevent a large number of coronary events and CHD deaths annually. We would like to highlight an additional reason to continue to drive further reductions in industrially produced TFA—that of social inequalities in CHD morbidity and mortality.
