In Reply: Prospective randomized trials have found that endoscopic harvest for CABG surgery of a vein segment from the thigh results in less wound morbidity and improved cosmetic result compared with open harvest from the calf.1- 2 Consistent with the findings of these randomized trials, our observational study of 235 394 Medicare patients found the endoscopic harvesting technique to be associated with significantly reduced wound complications.
