Over the past several years, researchers have had free access to the project's results through online databases (such as http://www.encodeproject.org/ENCODE/). A few preliminary articles were also published. Then, in September, a set of 30 articles describing the findings of the project so far were published and made freely available on a unique platform created by the journal Nature (http://www.nature.com/encode/) to highlight interrelated threads of evidence emerging from the project.
