To the Editor: In a homogeneous cohort of mid-career academic physicians, Dr Jagsi and colleagues reported a significant gender difference in salary even after adjusting for differences in specialty, institutional characteristics, academic productivity, academic rank, work hours, and other factors.1 However, in the final multivariate analyses, a colinearity problem may have affected the results because high correlations would occur between the specialty nature and the specialty pay level and between the number of publications and research time.
