In May 2010, researchers interviewed 92 people from 2 communities, where there had been outbreaks of fatal infections with rabies caused by bites by vampire bats. A questionnaire captured demographic information, information about exposure to bats, and whether the individuals had had pre-exposure or postexposure prophylaxis.
