To the Editor: Ms De Berardis and colleagues1 reported that the use of low-dose aspirin was associated with a 55% increase in risk of major bleeding, consistent with existing evidence,2 but the incidence rates in both aspirin users and those not using aspirin were substantially higher than previously reported.2 Although it is plausible that the rates are higher in unselected patients, flaws in the study's methods may have resulted in an overestimation of bleeding rates.
